House Of The Dragon: After the teaser’s release in early October, Game of Thrones fans were even more excited and looking forward to House of the Dragon. Apparently, the spin-off, which will serve as a prologue to the GoT story, must have a “different tone” from the original series.
In an interview with THR, Miguel Sapochnik, who is showrunner on the show alongside Ryan J Condal, spoke a little about the show.
Sapochnik stated that the prologue serves as a tribute to the history of GoT and that it seeks to respect the original series, after all, it is the reason the production is taking place. As such, it must remain very true to HBO’s success.
Still, he was quite incisive and clear about the fact that GoT is one show and House of the Dragon is another entirely. “This is something else and it should be something else. It’s a different team, different people, different tone. Hopefully it will be seen as something else. But it will have to earn it,” said Sapochnik.
Finally, the showrunner praised the luck the new production would have if it reached the level of success of the original series, and set a path to reach that goal.
“We’ll be lucky if we get close to what the original show was. So we’re just putting our heads down and moving on and hoping that what we see is worthy of having a Game of Thrones title,” concluded Sapochnik.
