Honor 30 Pro and Honor 30 Pro + are announced with 5G and 50x zoom

At the end of March, Huawei introduced the new P40 line of smartphones to the world, and today (15) Honor, a subsidiary brand, presented the Honor 30 line with three smartphones. The devices focus on productivity and performance, but neither do they bring direct Google applications or services.

The three smartphones are the Honor 30, Honor 30 Pro and Honor 30 Pro +. They have, for example, a biometric reader under the screen and Wi-Fi connectivity 6 and 5G. Despite other differences in hardware, all three feature a periscopy lens for hybrid optical zoom.

Honor 30: the “basics”
The Honor 30, apparently, is far from a basic cell phone. Despite being the base model of the new line, it has rounded glass construction in the corners and metal, as well as a 6.53 inch Full HD + OLED screen (20: 9).

Its screen still has a hole to house the front camera, which has 32 MP. At the rear, the cameras are 40 MP (main), 8 MP (ultrawide), 8 MP (periscope) for 5x optical zoom (or 10x hybrid) with optical image stabilization (OIS), and a sensor for macro photos 2 MP.

Technical specifications for this model include Huawei’s new Kirin 985 5G chipset, options with 6 GB or 8 GB of RAM, and 128 GB or 256 GB of storage. It also runs Android 10 with Magic UI 3.1.1, the manufacturer’s proprietary interface.

The new chipset is built in the 7nm process and has a maximum power clock (Cortex-A76) of 2.58 GHz. It also brings the new Kirin ISP 5.0 (Image Signal Processor) that promises better performance in photographs.

Honor includes a 4,000 mAh battery in the device that supports 40W fast cable charging. The colors available for this model are black, purple, silver and green. Their prices range from 2,999 yuan to 3,499 yuan, or about R $ 2,233 and R $ 2,365 in direct conversion based on today’s exchange rate. Official sales start on April 21 in China, but the pre-purchase period has started.

The ‘Pro’ models
The two models ‘Pro’ models are already more focused on demanding users and bring the Kirin 990 5G chipset, the same that comes in the Huawei P40 line. They also feature the same 6.57-inch Full HD + OLED screen (20: 9) curved in the corners, but only the Honor 30 Pro + has a 90Hz refresh rate.

Unlike the normal Honor 30, the Honor 30 Pro has versions with 8 GB of RAM and options of 128 GB or 256 GB of storage. The Honor 30 Pro + has 8 GB or 12 GB of RAM, but only one option with 256 GB of storage.

The battery of these models also repeats the 4,000 mAh battery of the base version, as well as the fast charging of 40W. The difference, however, is that the Honor 30 Pro + still supports 27W induction charging.

This new generation of devices brings the peculiarity of having a “Plus” version of a model already considered top of the line. In this case, some specific points of the Honor 30 Pro + are like more powerful additions, but not incredibly distant from the Honor 30 Pro.

In cameras, for example, the Honor 30 Pro has sensors of 40 MP (main), 16 MP (open and macro angle), 8 MP (periscope) for optical zoom up to 5x (or hybrid up to 50x) with OIS, and 2 MP for depth.

The Honor 30 Pro +, on the other hand, has a 50 MP main camera, an 8 MP telephoto (periscope) with the same hybrid optical zoom capabilities as the Honor 30 Pro, a 16 MP sensor (wide angle and macro) , and another 2 MP for depth.

At the front, the two devices have two cameras: one 32 MP as the main and a secondary 16 MP with an open angle.

The Honor 30 Pro is available from 3,999 yuan to 4,399 yuan, depending on the version, which would be close to R $ 2,959 and R $ 3,247, respectively, in direct conversion. The Honor 30 Pro + model is priced at 4,999 yuan and 5,499 yuan, or about R $ 3,700 and R $ 4,072, respectively.

It is worth remembering that, as with the new smartphones of the P40 line, the models of the Honor 30 line also do not bring applications or services from Google. That’s because Honor is a subsidiary brand of Huawei, which has been suffering commercial sanctions from the United States government.
