K-pop girl group STAYC will release new music in February, as confirmed by the label High Up Entertainment.

Earlier today (January 18), the Korean news agency SPOTV News reported that the six are currently preparing to release new music sometime next month. Shortly after the report appeared, the music label confirmed it in a brief statement to Sports Kyunghang. “STAYC are preparing to return with the aim of releasing a new album in February,” reads a statement translated by Soompi.

Although there are not enough details about the upcoming album at the time of publication, it is expected that more detailed information, including the album title, track list and final release date, will appear in the coming weeks.

The February STAYC album will be the first time the K-pop group has released new music in about seven months, and their last music will be the single album We Need Love, released in July 2022. Led by the title track “Beautiful Monster”, the four-track project also included the B-sides “I Like It”, “Love”, as well as TAK’s remix of the previous February 2022 hit “RUN2U”.

All four tracks for “We Need Love” were written and composed by Black Eyed Pilseung hitmakers, frequent STAYC collaborator Jong Gun and producers Rado and Flyt. Black Eyed Pilseung are also executives of the label STAYC High Up Entertainment.

Tanu I. Raj of NME awarded “We Need Love” three stars, writing that it was “disappointing to discover that they may have overreacted in “We Need Love”.” They continued: “Despite the strengths of the songs, ‘We Need Love’ generally leaves much to be desired. It seems that not only the aforementioned experimental strip, which has become synonymous with STAYC, is missing, but also the complexity of the story they are building.”
