Harvey Elliott Joins Only Robbie Fowler in The Exclusive List of 40 Not Excluded Liverpool Players.

Liverpool have played 40 games this season and Harvey Elliott has been involved in every one of them, the only red player to have done so, allowing him to match the previous efforts of teenager Robbie Fowler.

Jurgen Klopp’s team has had a tumultuous season so far, and yet the only constant has been Elliott’s presence.

With 23 starts and 17 substitute appearances, the 19-year-old has played in every match in all competitions so far.

Given the injury problems plaguing the club everywhere, this is a feat to be proud of and it becomes even more impressive as he is only the second Liverpool teenager ever to accomplish this.

As Opta’s Michael Reed notes, the first Liverpool teenager to play the first 40 games of the season was Robbie Fowler in the 1994/95 season, and Elliott followed in his footsteps 28 seasons later.

Not a bad company to keep.

As for the players who appeared in each of the first 40 games of the season in the 21st century, only Pep Reina (2011/12), Mohamed Salah (2018/19), and now Elliott can claim the title.

And now it’s time to see if Elliott can continue his impressive streak until the end of the season, in which he will become the first player since the 1996/97 season.

David James and Stig Inge Bjornebay were the last Reds to participate in every game of the same campaign, 52 times each.

This is a record that Elliott could repeat, as Fowler did in the 1994/95 season after he turned 40 consecutive matches into 57.
