Google Plans To Launch A Pixel Watch In 2022, Rumor Says

Google: After a few years of developing its own smartphones and an operating system for smart watches, Google should finally enter the market with its own model in 2022.

According to the Business Insider website, the company is already working internally to launch a “Pixel Watch” in the coming months — a name not yet confirmed, but which would make sense in relation to the current identity of the brand.

Code-named “Rohan”, the device would be made by Pixel’s own team, with no direct participation from the Fitbit team, a wearable device company acquired by Google in 2019. The idea is that the model is more powerful and complete than a fitness bracelet , competing directly against premium models in the category, such as the Apple Watch.

Much is missing?

According to the report, the model will have a virtually borderless circular screen and basic functions for monitoring heart, steps and physical exercise. In April of this year, a design that matches that description was leaked, but without major updates from Google.

However, the device still needs design and functionality improvements before mass manufacturing — apparently, recharging is still considered slow and the battery too short. If these problems still exist, it is likely that mass production of the model will start later and push the watch’s launch into the second half of next year.

For now, the company has yet to comment on the matter and the news must be considered a rumor.
