Google hasn’t even released the Pixel 4a, which should arrive next month, but rumors about the Pixel 5 are already appearing. According to evidence found by the websites XDA Developers and Android Police, the smartphone can reach the market without the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 processor.
Despite the fact that the main cell phones in the Pixel line operate in the top-of-the-line segment, the sites point out that Google may change the market positioning of the smartphone in its new generation. According to sources from David Ruddock, editor of Android Police, the manufacturer may launch the Pixel 5 with the Snapdragon 765, which will put the device to compete in the middle sector in 2020.
Can confirm via my own source that the Pixel 5 will use a Snapdragon 765. No phone with a top tier CPU from Google this year.

While there is still the possibility of an “XL” version of the Pixel 5 being launched with the Snapdragon 865, XDA Developers have already found multiple indications that, in fact, the two devices in the series will arrive with a processor focused on cost-effectiveness.
Pixel 5 processor clues
In January of this year, XDA Developers found three mobile codenames under development by Google: Sunfish, Bramble and Redfin. While the first model appeared in the leaks with the Snapdragon 730, the two other devices were supposed to arrive with the Snapdragon 765.
During the month of February, the XDA got clues confirming that the cell called Sunfish would be the Pixel 4a. Then, the site experts discovered, through an official Google APK, that the codenames Bramble and Redfin would represent the Pixel 5 and Pixel 5 XL.
Recently, people at the development site gained access to the previous version of Android 11, which also includes new tracks connecting the alleged Pixel 5 devices to Qualcomm’s intermediate processor. According to XDA, the system codes bring information that links the nicknames Redfin and Bramble with “g7250”, which would be the codename used by Google for the Snapdragon 765 chip.
To date, Google has not officially commented on the matter and concrete leaks showing the Snapdragon 765 on the Google Pixel 5 have not yet emerged. Therefore, all the details that have emerged must still be considered rumors.
The presentation of the Pixel 4a, the next model in the line, should take place on June 3, when Google will hold the Android 11 event that will replace I / O 2020.
