England coach Gareth Southgate has expressed disappointment that Marcus Rashford will not be able to participate in the Euro 2024 qualifiers.
The Manchester United striker is out of the squad after being injured in the FA Cup match against Fulham.
Rashford posted photos of himself in New York on Instagram a few hours before the England-Italy match.
Southgate was asked about the 25-year-old’s absence, to which he replied:
“Well, it feels like he played very well, but we didn’t have him very often.”
“So, in terms of loss, when you haven’t had him that often, it’s not a loss. But, without a doubt, he was in good shape.”
“We were looking forward to meeting him.”
Eric Ten Hag would be happy if his star man took a well-deserved break before another grueling April.
Rashford has been one of Manchester United’s standout players this season.
His goals alone carried the team’s attack.
The Englishman played the second most minutes for United in this campaign, emphasizing his importance for Ten Hag.
United fans hope to see him in good shape and ready to enter the final stretch of the season.
