Funny Pages Trailer Offers a Tease of A24’s Coming-of-Age Black comedy

A24 has released a new trailer for the upcoming dark comedy “Funny Pages”, which will be Owen Kline’s directorial debut in a feature film. Produced by Josh and Benny Safdie (“Good Time”, “Uncut Jewels”), “Funny Pages” features actors such as Daniel Zolgadri (“Eighth Grade”), Matthew Maher (“Captain Marvel”), Miles Emanuel, Maria Dizzia, Josh Paice (“Joker”), Marcia. DeBonis (Heels) and Ron Rifkin (Alias). The story of Funny Pages revolves around a teenage cartoonist named Robert, who is so passionate about his craft that he drops out of school to take up his dream job.

Now A24 has released the official trailer for “Funny Pages”, which focuses on the lead actor Zolgadri in the role of Robert. The trailer begins with Robert telling his parents he won’t be coming back to school, leaving them perplexed. Then he tries to use various career opportunities as an artist and finds that he agrees to a less than comfortable lifestyle. However, after discovering his colleague Wallace’s comics, he tries to convince him to help develop his own cartoonist talents. Watch the full trailer below:

Kline is the son of Oscar—winning actor Kevin Kline and actress Phoebe Cates. Funny Pages is the budding director’s first feature film after he himself starred in several independent films, including Noah Baumbach’s 2005 comedy drama The Squid and the Whale. Funny Pages currently has a perfect early Rotten Tomatoes score of 100%, which suggests that A24 may have another success story. Viewers will be able to watch “Funny Pages” in cinemas or on request on August 26.
