Black Wings Game Studio has introduced Persona 5: The Phantom X, a free game set in the same universe as Persona 5.
Persona 5: The Phantom X, released as a free game for PC and mobile platforms, will tell about another student from Tokyo who will gain access to the powerful abilities of the Persona.
Persona 5: The Phantom X was created by Chinese developer Black Wings Game Studio (a subsidiary of Perfect World Games), but Persona Central reported that the main developer of Persona Atlus was involved in the development.
Although the full release date has not yet been announced, public testing is scheduled for March 29. However, it has not yet been confirmed whether Persona 5: The Phantom X will be released with an English localization.
Many aspects of the spin-off will seem familiar to Persona 5 fans — the first trailer of the game shows that a number of locations from the 2016 game will return, including Shibuya, ball cages and souvenirs.
Similarly, Persona 5: The Phantom X contains most of the same bits as 5. The first game trailer shows how the main character attends school and manages his social life, fighting shadow monsters in the realm of the Tokyo metaverse.
Despite the fact that the main cast of P will be a cameo in The Phantom X, the story will follow a separate group of Phantom Thieves. Morgan’s companion cat has been replaced with a mysterious talking owl, and the main character Wonder is joined by high school sophomore Avilda.
Wonder was designed by Shigenori Soejima, who worked as the art director of Persona 3 and then worked as a character designer for 4 and 5.
In 2021, Soejima celebrated the fifth anniversary of Persona 5 by sharing a new illustration of the game’s protagonist, the Joker.
Back in January, we awarded four stars to the Persona 3 and 4 games that debuted on Xbox shortly after the release of Persona 5.
