Flea Provoked Rumors That Red Hot Chili Peppers Will Play at Glastonbury 2023

Fans suspect that the Red Hot Chili Peppers may perform at Glastonbury this year after bassist Flea shared a mysterious post on social media.

This year’s festival is scheduled to take place from June 21 to 25, but so far only Elton John has been announced as a headliner.

According to rumors, other artists who may currently top the list include Arctic Monkeys, Roxy Music in the legends slot and Gun N’ Roses after Duff McKagan himself confirmed the band’s slot last week.

Now there are suspicions that the Chili Peppers may be heading to Worthy Farm this year, after Flea retweeted a sketch of the pyramid scene drawn by Glastonbury and Radiohead artist Stanley Donwood on Friday (January 20) with the word “Yes”.

“Is this a Glastonbury confirmation??!” one person wrote in the replies. “Finally Glasto!?” asked another.

“Are you doing Glasto this year?” one added, while others asked: “Is that… true?”

The band, which returned in 2022 with two new albums — “Unlimited Love” and the subsequent “Return Of The Dream Canteen” — was supposed to perform at Glastonbury back in 1993, but was forced to withdraw after Flea developed chronic fatigue syndrome. .

Artist Donwood has created all the works for Radiohead and Thom Yorke since 1994, and his work has also become synonymous with Glastonbury posters and merchandise. Back in November, NME told NME that it really wants to start work this year.

Since John is due to close the festival on Sunday, June 25, 2023, and since the Chili Peppers are scheduled to perform on their European tour on Wednesday, June 21 (Warsaw, Poland) and Saturday, June 24 (Odense, Denmark), there are currently gaps for a potential Glasto slot on June 22 and 23.

The Red Hot Chili Peppers are due to kick off the UK leg of their world tour on July 21 at London’s Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and then perform at Hampden Park in Glasgow on July 23.

Elsewhere in the rumour mill, Melanie C recently shared an update on speculation that the Spice Girls were due to play at Glastonbury this year after Mel B teased that the pop icons might reunite again for a special performance at Worthy Farm.
