Charlie and Dixie D’Amelio’s father Mark says he is gathering a group of investors to buy TikTok amid threats to ban the app from the US government.
Over the past few years, various members of the U.S. government have made it clear that they are interested in potentially banning access to TikTok nationwide.
Citing the property’s ties to the Chinese government, U.S. officials fear that ByteDance’s parent company is selling user data to China, posing a potential security threat.
In mid—March 2023, the US issued its latest threat to ByteDance — sell the app or get banned – and Mark D’Amelio wants to buy it.
Mark D’Amelio gathers investors to buy TikTok
On March 18, 2023, Mark shared his interest in buying a platform for short videos in a tweet on his profile.
“I’m gathering a group of investors to buy TikTok,” he said.
At the time of writing, his tweet has been viewed more than 50,000 times with dozens of replies to his post.
I am putting together a group of investors to pursue the purchase of TikTok.

It’s unknown who the investors he’s found so far are, so we’ll have to wait to see if there are any other big names in the mix, such as his famous daughters Charlie and Dixie D’Amelio.
Charlie and Dixie are known as the pioneers of the platform, in just a few short years they quickly became the two most popular creators on TikTok thanks to their various dance trends, music, TV show appearances and more.
Whether their father will be able to buy the platform depends solely on whether ByteDance wants to sell its shares in the app — and their plans have not yet been announced.
We will definitely let you know if TikTok will be banned, but in the meantime, take a look at our entertainment section to find out more news and other viral stories.
