Facebook Messenger: This Thursday (21), Facebook announced the launch of “Group Effects”, Group Effects in free translation, of Augmented Reality (AR) for Messenger Rooms and service video calls. The initiative implements dynamic capabilities on all users present in the conversation simultaneously.

There are more than 70 options available, including a hamburger assembling game, beard filters and even a cat that walks through the interface. The company will also expand access to the Spark AR Multipeer API for creators and developers to produce new effects for groups later in the month.

To take advantage of the novelty, create a videoconference or a Room in the Messenger app and access the “Happy Face” to open the effects window. Afterwards, choose “Group Effects”; the company also noted that the new feature will be offered on Instagram, but did not provide details on the availability of this version.

Halloween and more news

To celebrate Halloween, Facebook also announced several small initiatives that will be available this month, such as chat themes, stickers, AR effects. In addition, themed sound emojis from the new movie 007: No Time to Die were offered.

Recently, the platform introduced “Word Effects”, which allow you to pair emojis with typing. You can, for example, write “Happy Birthday” and a balloon and confetti symbol will appear in the customer interface. This tool received, this Wednesday (20), suggestions for combinations made by the service for everyday phrases — the update on the new thing is already on iOS devices and will come to Android in the coming weeks.

The news comes at a time when Facebook is investing in the “metaverse”, which can even reach the company’s name. The concept aims to transform the company and its apps into a connected and increasingly virtual environment.
