Batman: The Doom That Came to Gotham is a unique entry that can be found when you watch Batman movies in order. An adaptation of the eponymous mini-series “Other Worlds” from the creator of “Hellboy” Mike Mignola, Richard Pace, Troy Nixey and Dennis Janke. This Batman story is set in the 1920s and combines the mythology of the Caped Crusader and the horrors of Lovecraft. But if you’re a fan of Green Arrow, you can also expect Oliver Queen to play a role in this DC animated film, and CinemaBlend has an exclusive clip of the master archer entertaining guests at his house, including Bruce Wayne and Harvey Dent, indulging in some libations.
After decades of traveling the world and taking care of several young people, “Batman: The Doom That Came to Gotham” shows Bruce Wayne returning to Gotham City after… let’s just say an unusual experience in Antarctica, without going into spoilers. Among the first people he visits upon returning home is Oliver Queen, who invites Bruce, along with his charges Dick Grayson and Kai Lee Kane, to join him for dinner. As you can see in the video, the wealthy socialite clearly had no problems buying alcohol during Prohibition, much to Kai Li’s chagrin.
But Oliver Queen (voiced by Christopher Gotham, who previously played Flash in all the films set in the DC Animated Movie Universe timeline after “Justice League: The Ignition Point Paradox”) doesn’t just spend his adult life downing drinks. He is also a man who has traveled all over the world hunting big game; “it is not a question of living flora or fauna” can surpass him… and yes, he knows that flora is plants, and he insists on his statement. The clip ends with Oliver introducing an unexpected guest of the evening, Harvey Dent, who goes back in time with Oliver and Bruce and is running for mayor of Gotham City. Dent is voiced by Patrick Fabian, perhaps best known for playing Howard Hamlin in the TV series Better Call Saul, but he is also known in other corners of the Internet for his unique reading of the “Van Pease is Real!” meme.
For those wondering if Oliver Queen appears in Batman: The Doom That Came to Gotham just as a drunken buffoon, don’t worry, he’s really involved in the action, although you’ll have to watch the movie for yourself to find out exactly how. The cast of “The Rock That Came to Gotham” also includes David Gintoli as Bruce Wayne/Batman (he plays this character for the second time after Batman: Dragon Soul 2021), Tati Gabriel as Kai Lee Kane, John DiMaggio as James Gordon, Brian George as Alfred Pennyworth, David Dastamlchian as Grandon and Jason Marsden as Dick Grayson and young Bruce, among others others. Sam Liu directed the film and Jace Ricci wrote the script.
Warner Bros. Home Entertainment will release Batman: The Doom That Came to Gotham in digital format, 4K Combo Pack and Blu-ray, starting Tuesday, March 28, four days after the world premiere at WonderCon in Anaheim.
