Xbox: Unexpectedly and surprisingly, Reggie Fils-Aimé, the former president of Nintendo of America, presented a Microsoft event about the Xbox.
That’s right, you didn’t read it wrong: the charismatic former head of Nintendo’s American division was the moderator of a panel that brought together several game market executives, celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Microsoft console.
Reggie started the presentation with a more than pertinent question. “I’m sure you’re wondering what the former Nintendo of America president and COO is doing at an Xbox event,” he commented. In his characteristic and playful tone, he replied that “I don’t know why I’m here either”.
Fils-Aimé mediated a conversation that featured industry pioneers such as Bonnie Ross of 343 Industries; Peter Moore, former corporate vice president of Interactive Entertainment; Ed Fries, who was formerly vice president of Microsoft Game Studios; and Robbie Bach, the former head of the Xbox division.
In the chat, former contestants—whom Reggie said he “competed fiercely”—and current friends exchanged ideas about the past, present, and future of creativity and innovation.
