The information is not yet official, but it will not fail to arouse the curiosity of all BMW fans. According to information from Car Magazine, the German firm intends to launch a 100% electric BMW M5 by 2024.
According to the first elements available to the publication, this M5 would be equipped with an all-wheel drive, with an electric motor for the front axle and two for the rear axle totaling 750 kW or more than 1,000 hp. There is talk of a 135 kWh battery delivering up to 700 km of autonomy. Because Magazine evokes a 0 to 100 km / h in 2.9 seconds. The battery would be compatible with 400v charging systems but it could evolve towards 800v, like the Porsche Taycan.
BMW has not yet confirmed its plans with regard to its ultra sporty branch. We do know, however, that the brand decided to abandon its Vision M Next project, a hybrid-powered sports car that was to succeed the i8. Next year, the German automaker is expected to launch the BMW i4, a sedan that promises 530 horsepower and a range of 600 kilometers.
