The new edition of Empire magazine brings on the cover photos of Duna, a new film by Denis Villeneuve, and reveals for the first time details of sand worms, giant creatures that inhabit the desert planet.
On two other covers, you can also see the visuals of the main characters: Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet), Leto Atreides (Oscar Isaac), Gurney Halleck (Josh Brolin), Lady Jessica (Rebeca Ferguson), Chani (Zendaya), Duncan Idaho (Jason Momoa), Stilgar (Javier Bardem) and Liet-Kynes (Sharon Duncan-Brewster).
Duna is the adaptation of the novel of the same name by Frank Herbert and has become one of the most influential works of science fiction. The plot follows the journey of Paul Atreides, who moves with his family to control the desert planet Arrakis.
Known as Duna, the planet is known for possessing a valuable spice and disputed by several noble families. After being victims of a conspiracy, Atreides flees to the desert and will need to ally himself with nomadic tribes to regain power.
Dave Bautista, Stellan Skarsgård, Charlotte Rampling and David Dastmalchian complete the film’s cast. The film will be divided into two parts and the first is scheduled to hit theaters on December 17, 2020, while the sequel is currently in pre-production.
