The last decade has made rap more and more popular. He sees himself now as the most listened style in the world. Thanks to rappers like Drake, Travis Scott and many others, the boom in album sales remains intact. But who stays at the top of this ranking?
For ten years, the codes of listening of music, rap in particular, have evolved a lot. The arrival and trivialization of streaming platforms like Deezer or Spotify have had an impact on music consumption. The streams being free, the sale of album has necessarily decreased. A trend that some rappers try to counter. Because the albums are still sold in millions. So who are the biggest sellers of rappers? Unsurprisingly, Drake stuns the competition.
It’s Billboard that unveiled the rankings of the rappers with the most hardliners in the last decade. And there are many surprises and some seeds of nostalgia. And Billboard reveals two different rankings. One for the best songs of the year and one for the best albums.
DRAKE, POST MALONE AND THE WEEKND IN THE BEST SELLERS IN RAP!
The best-selling rapped song is a 2010 hit. Macklemore and Ryan Lewis’ Thrift Shop had a great record. He finished first in front of Bruno Mars and Blurred Lines by Pharell and Robin Thicke. Names that remind us of many memories. Drake is, with Pharell, the only artist present twice.
For albums, we find Drake’s Take Care in first place. Stoney of Post Malone arrives second. Eminem’s recovery takes third place. In the rest of the ranking, we find Views, The Heist and Beyoncé. A ranking that unsurprisingly brings together the greatest artists of the past decade.
Even if the streaming takes the margin, the sale of album remains consequent however.
