Discord, a popular chat service for games, is going to introduce “Clyde”, its own chatbot with artificial intelligence based on ChatGPT.
With the growing number of AI bots, Discord will be next in line to introduce its own. Adopting the name Clyde, Discord will begin deploying its ChatGPT-based bot next week, but only for Discord Alpha users.
The company distinguishes this from recent additions to Slack and Bing in that it will not be able to write something for you, but only answer questions. According to a report by The Verge, Discord plans to make Clyde the centerpiece of its future plans for communities using the platform. However, it will not be presented to the general public in the near future.
Presumably, Discord will conduct intensive AI training to ensure that it does not cause any future disasters and does not blurt out anything too grotesque. Watching Google and Microsoft see such public failures, caution is understandable.
There is even a huge warning telling you not to share confidential information with Clyde. Again, this assumes that the AI tool accumulates data for machine learning purposes.
Do not share Clyde’s secrets and do not rely on his advice, Discord support or security issues. Clyde is experimental and imperfect, so you may come across information that may be considered biased, misleading, harmful or inaccurate even with security measures in place.
New artificial intelligence features will appear in Discord
The feature that was noted in the report is that Discord will allow users to use a ChatGPT-based bot to summarize missed conversations.
Discord will also introduce AI for its AutoMod bot. While this is currently built on various models, an introduction to the language models provided by OpenAI ensures that it will be able to act better in the interest of keeping the world on servers.
This means that things like racism, bigotry and other unfair practices can be quickly banned. Today, the AI version of AutoMod will begin to be deployed on a small number of servers.
