WhatsApp, the popular messaging app, has shared platforms and devices that it will not support as of 2020. Accordingly, Windows Phone devices will not be supported from 1 January.
Over the years, the smartphones that are getting old are losing the support of many software. This time, the name of our news guest is widely used around the world and Facebook’s WhatsApp. The company announced which devices will not have WhatsApp support by 2020.
There is no denying the fact that WhatsApp is the most used instant messaging application. The team that develops the app is constantly adding new features to WhatsApp, so the functionality of the app is growing. Whether you use the app for business purposes or to talk to friends, it works in every way.
Now, whatsApp will not be able to use smartphones from 2020 onwards. In a blog post, the company announced that accessors from the following platforms can no longer open a new account on WhatsApp or verify their existing accounts:
Android 2.3.7 Gingerbread and earlier versions (not supported as of February 1, 2020)
iOS 8 and earlier (will not be supported as of February 1, 2020)
The information contained in the blog post shared by WhatsApp does not, in theory, limit the use of the application entirely. Only some users who use these platforms are unable to access some features of the application. But for Windows Phone users, this is much worse.
WhatsApp announced that Windows Phone devices will not have any WhatsApp support as of January 1, 2020. So if you’re still using the once popular Nokia Lumia series, you won’t be able to use WhatsApp from that date.
WhatsApp cuts its support for some older platforms every year is not without reason. The number of users using this platform and the new features to be added to the application are not supported by these platforms, resulting in the loss of WhatsApp support.
In summary, if you are currently using Android 4.0.3 and later, iOS 9 and later or KaiOS 2.5.1 and later, you don’t have to worry. But if you’re a user of previous versions and want to use WhatsApp, it’s time to consider buying a new phone.
