The exact release date has been confirmed for Redfall — find out all the details you need to know below.
The game was supposed to be released last summer, but was postponed along with Starfield to give players “the best, most perfect versions.” Since then, Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer has said it’s “the right thing to do.”
In a new game video, Arkane Studios confirmed the release date of May 2.
The synopsis of the game in the video description reads: “Redfall is an open—world cooperative first-person shooter from Arkane Austin, the award-winning team that created Prey and Dishonored. Continuing the legacy of Arkane’s carefully crafted worlds and immersive simulators, Redfall brings the studio’s signature gameplay to this story shooter.”
He adds: “Kill alone or join up to 4 players in a cooperative game and fight the bloodsuckers holding the island hostage. In Arkane’s signature style, you will choose your way through the island and through the masses of vampires when you find out what caused this plague of bloodsuckers, and put an end to the threat.
“Explore a beautifully hand-crafted open world filled with details and shed light on the darkest corners of the island, fighting to uncover the secrets of vampires. Choose from a list of heroes with unique abilities that can be improved, and equip them with customizable weapons that can be found all over the island. Bite back.”
Elsewhere, Arkane Studios creative director Ricardo Barre responded to claims that Redfall would be similar to the Left 4 Dead games, instead stating that it has more in common with Far Cry.
Baer went on to describe Redfall as “a big open world. We have a home base where you can talk to NPCs and get side quests. You can go to the mission table and select story missions. Or you don’t care about all this and just go outside; choose a direction, start dragging your ass and face the things of the living world that are happening here.”
The game will be available on Xbox Series X/S (including via Xbox Game Pass) and PC.
