Dangerous fire in the area where Chernobyl nuclear power plant is located

The forest fire in the Chernobyl region of Ukraine has not yet been extinguished, despite its onset on April 4 and intense work carried out. The fire reportedly burned 12 villages, cemeteries, and vast wooded areas, most of which were evacuated after the nuclear disaster.

In the statement made by the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Ukraine, it was stated that the area occupied by the fire could not be determined precisely due to the fumes spreading around, but as of April 8, the area of 3,500 hectares was under the influence of the fire. The statement also predicts that there are three possibilities for the start of the fire, one of which is the splash of fire in the wooded areas in the neighboring province of Jitomir, the second is the leap of sparks from the power lines in the region to the dry grass, and the third is the intentional burning.

RADIATION LEVEL RISES
In a statement released last week from the Ukrainian authorities, it was stated that the radiation in the fire area is 14 times above normal level, but the radiation is normal in Kiev.

As a result of the explosion on 26 April 1986 in the No. 4 reactor of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant, the biggest environmental disaster occurred in the world history. The entire Chernobyl Nuclear Sniper was closed in 2000.
