Before and after COVID-19: satellite images show changes

The Coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19) has led people to take a series of preventive measures around the world. One is to avoid social contact as much as possible, as the disease can be contracted in simple situations, such as approaching someone or an object with contaminated particles.

In view of this, the Indian website Geospacial World produced videos with satellite images that compare the impact of Covid-19 on the landscape of various parts of the world; watch:

As you can see in the videos, the quarantine recommendation has emptied streets, roads, sights and shops. On the other hand, the crowded parking lot of a car rental company is observed, given the low demand.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), the number of confirmed cases exceeds 209 thousand and the number of deaths reaches more than 8.7 thousand. In Brazil alone, there are about 649 infected and 7 fatal victims.

The disease has not yet been cured, which is why doctors and researchers, globally, are looking for efficient drugs and vaccines to contain their progress.
