The question of how to clean the phone remains in users’ minds in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic. According to Google, the question about how to sanitize the phone has grown by 4,200% in the last 30 days. This time, Asus and LG have given guidance on how to disinfect the phone. Both companies recommend the use of 70% isopropyl alcohol to clean electronic equipment.
They join Apple, Samsung and Motorola. It has been two weeks since the manufacturers also went public with tips on how to clean iPhones and cell phones from the Galaxy and Moto lines.
It is worth noting that isopropyl alcohol is different from gel alcohol. The first, according to the recommendation of the Federal Council of Chemistry, is the most suitable to be used in the cleaning of electronic products because the chemical structure that composes it makes oxidation of the parts difficult. The product can be found at computer and office supply stores.
Asus and LG emphasize that it is essential to take precautions such as washing hands with soap or cleaning them with gel alcohol; turn off the phone; and unplug it before starting the cleaning procedure.
After that, the user must remove the protective cover, if any, and use isopropyl alcohol (70% concentration) on a soft, lint-free cloth to clean the display and the back. It is not recommended to use chlorine, disinfectant or any abrasive product to clean the smartphone, as they can damage or stain the device.
In the case of Zenfone, Asus states that the use of alcohol gel is not recommended. In turn, LG admits that the product can be used on phones. It is essential to pass very little alcohol on gel and dry the device. Otherwise, components may become damp or even rust.
It is advisable for the user to avoid using the cell phone in public places or taking it to the bathroom. After all, in addition to the respiratory syndrome caused by the new coronavirus, bacteria harmful to health can also contaminate the device.
