The new type of corona virus, COVID-19, which has caused more than 3 thousand lives to date, continues to cause panic and fear in the world. Health professionals, who say that everyone should take their own precautions, recommend that you stay at least 2 meters away from anyone who looks sick.

The new type of corona virus outbreak that erupts in Wuhan, China, is unlike any other virus due to the speed of transmission from person to person. Since its first appearance in December 2019, the disease that has infected more than 80 thousand people, most of them in mainland China, has completely paralyzed life where it is active.

The US Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said that anyone who is sick should be avoided. CDC recommended that people avoid close contact with anyone who has flu-like symptoms, and that the virus is transmitted from 90 cm to 1 meter by saliva and mucus.

The new type of corona virus, called COVID-19, causes respiratory distress in people who are infected. The disease, which has flu-like symptoms such as fever, cough and shortness of breath, quickly turns into pneumonia. In the past, infection control specialists had defined the close contact range as 90 cm, as in SARS, but the CDC doubled this distance for the new type of corona virus outbreak.

Scientists think that COVID-19 is carried in liquid droplets larger than 5 micrometers. But he suspects that the virus can also be transported with smaller and drier droplets, less than 5 micrometers in diameter, known as aerosols. Due to their size, their aerosols stay in the air longer and can usually be passed from person to person through breathing. For example, tuberculosis and measles are transmitted mainly through aerosols. On the other hand, experts say that even if the corona virus is transported by aerosols, this is not the main mechanism of transmission.

CDC states that the best way to avoid COVID-19 or any virus is to wash your hands frequently during the day and not touch your face. Experts also recommend disinfecting frequently touched surfaces such as door handles, phones and keyboards using a cleaning spray or wet wipes.

According to the data of the World Health Organization (WHO), the new type of corona virus has infected more than 89,000 people so far and killed more than 3,000 people in total. It has spread to at least 69 other countries outside of China.
