Netflix has renewed the series “Cobra Kai” for the sixth and final season.
The fifth season of Karate Kid was released on the streaming service in September 2022 and marked the return of Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) and Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio), who were preparing to fight the growing karate empire of Terry Silver (Thomas Ian Griffith). .
Now a statement from creators Josh Heald, John Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg has confirmed that the show will end after next season.
“It was our humble honor to introduce the world to The Karate Kid universe,” they wrote. “The creation of Cobra Kai allowed us to join the same sacred dojo once inhabited by the great Robert Mark Kamen, John Evildsen, Jerry Weintraub and all the amazing original actors.
“It also allowed us to play sensei, expanding the original storylines and spawning a new generation of outsiders. We have never taken this opportunity for granted.
The statement added: “Our first goal with Cobra Kai has always been to finish this on our terms, leaving the Valley at the time and place we always envisioned. Therefore, it is with great pride and gratitude that we can announce this achievement.
“The upcoming sixth season will mark the end of Cobra Kai. While it may be a bittersweet day for fandom, Miyagiverse has never been stronger. This fandom is THE BEST on the planet, and we hope that in the future we will be able to tell you even more stories about karate kids. Because, as we all know, Cobra Kai never dies.”

Last year, Sony Pictures announced that it would be developing a new standalone Karate Kid movie, which will be released in 2024.
It is clear that the film will not be related to the series “Cobra Kai”, and further details about the cast and director have not yet been disclosed. Hurwitz confirmed that he is not involved in the project, writing in a recent post on Twitter: “The guys and I would like to make films about Karate Kid and Cobra Kai and hope to do it someday.
“But this is not from us and is not dedicated to the cast of Cobra Kai. I don’t know much about it, but I wish you good luck.”
