Chrono Cross Could Be The Mysterious New ‘PlayStation remake’

Chrono Cross: In October of this year, rumors about the possible remake of a PlayStation classic began to circulate. In an interview with a radio station, Irish artist Éabha McMahon claimed to be working on a song for the re-release of a major game on Sony’s console.

At the time, fans speculated that it was a new updated version of Chrono Cross — and now the information may finally be confirmed. During a recent episode of the XboxEra podcast, Nick Baker, the show’s founder, claimed to have received confirmation that the December release is actually a remastering of Square’s classic JRPG.

Chrono Cross Remastered, I think, was already on NVidia’s leaked list, so the game shouldn’t be a surprise,” Baker said, referring to a leak that listed several titles, announced and unannounced, including supposed release dates. . Several items on the list have already been confirmed, and NVidia itself has already acknowledged the veracity of the leak.

The XboxEra founder revealed that he had received confirmation that the game cited by the Irish songwriter was, in fact, Chrono Cross Remastered. According to him, while people are assuming it’s a PlayStation exclusive title, that wouldn’t exactly be the case: his source would have used the word “multiplat”, implying that the launch will be made on more than one platform.

Baker said that while JRPG and “multiplat” make sense as PC, PlayStation and Switch releases, he has no confirmation that the new Chrono Cross will be released on exactly these platforms. He also doesn’t have any information about the game possibly making it to Xbox, saying only that it won’t be a PlayStation exclusive.

As there is no official confirmation, we must continue to treat the matter as just a rumor.
