Chromecast with Google TV released, last Wednesday (15), the list with the most searched movie and TV productions of the year by streaming player users. The ranking is similar to Google’s 2021 retrospective, which includes the most searched terms of the year on the platform.
Unlike 2020, when the dongle showed separate lists for movies and series, this year we have a unique ranking, according to 9to5Google. There are 11 titles in total, which appear on the platform’s home screen, in the “For you” tab, and can be found in the “Research of the year” window.
Disney+ productions dominate the ranking, which curiously did not add Netflix titles, leaving out regional content as well. The Mountain View company has not disclosed the criteria used to include movies and series in the annual summary.
This new playlist, also called “Year in Search,” arrives alongside other special year-end content released by Google for the device, which recently offered six months of free Netflix to users in the United States. Another highlight is the Google Trends ranking, which shows search statistics in 2021 on the platform by country.
Most searched movies and series on Chromecast with Google TV
The list available in the “Surveys of the Year” section on Chromecast with Google TV includes the following titles:
Shang-Chi and The Legend of Ten Rings
Godzilla x King Kong
Halloween Kills: The Horror Continues
007: No Time to Die
For now, the retrospective is only available on this version of the dongle, but its arrival on Google TV on other Android devices is not ruled out.
