Chloe Bailey Says The Reaction to The “Roy” Sex Scene Was “Immoderately Overblown”

Chloe Bailey said the reaction to her sex scene in the Swarm was “immoderate” because she is a woman.

The new Amazon Prime Video series from Donald Glover features star actors Bailey, Billie Eilish, Rory Culkin and Dominic Fishback. The last of them plays Dre, an obsessive music lover from Houston, who falls into a bloody rage because of her favorite musician.

At the beginning of the opening episode, which was released on March 17, Dre’s sister Marissa (Bailey) has sex, and some criticized this scene for its explicit nature.

In a recent appearance on the Big Boy’s Neighborhood podcast, Bailey defended the scene, saying, “I’m an actress, and I feel like it’s art.”

“It’s not about seeing me in the mirror of this scene,” the actor-singer said. “But I think because I’m doing it, it kind of makes it disproportionate.”

Bailey, who shares the scene with Damson Idris, added that she was “barely seen for two seconds.”

When asked if Idris had received a similar negative reaction, Bailey smiled and replied, “I don’t think so because he’s a man.”

She continued: “I was just doing my job, and people should remember that I’m an adult and an artist, and there was nothing they didn’t see from me. You didn’t see the nipple.

In this scene, the camera is mostly focused on Idris, and Bailey only briefly appears in his mirror image.

“When I first got the script, I was just like [sigh]! It was just crazy and great, and I think people forget the plot of that scene,” Bailey added.

Elsewhere, it was recently revealed that Billie Eilish’s character for the show was inspired by a real-life cult leader.
