Chicago P.D: Meet the Actor Who Auditioned to Play Captain America

During the nine seasons, Chicago P.D has been impressing its viewers of the NBC television network, thanks to the incredible stories we have seen there, many members of the cast have even been present since the first season launched in 2014.

However, before this series aired, many of its actors took on other acting roles. This is how one of the most important characters in this show, he auditioned to play Captain America, although unfortunately, he did not get the role.

In Chicago P.D, Patrick Flueger plays Adam Ruzek, a young officer introduced to fans from season one. Ruzek is chosen directly from the Academy to become a member of Hank Voight’s (Jason Beghe) Intelligence Unit. He often rushes headlong into situations without thinking. He also got engaged three times: once when he was 18 years old, once to a woman named Wendy, and later to Officer Kim Burgess (Marina Squerciati).

The relationship between these two important agents has always been strong but complicated, from the first moment they had a very good chemistry. Although Burgess briefly broke off her engagement to Ruzek, she later became pregnant with him. However, the agent suffered a miscarriage. From that point on, Adam Ruzek and Kim raise Burgess’s little adopted daughter, Mikayla.

Although Patrick Flueger debuted as his character in Chicago P.D, at one point his story may have changed. Since in 2011, Flueger did a screen test for the role of Captain America in the movie Captain America: The First Avenger.

Most likely, if Flueger had been accepted in this role, he might not have had enough time for his role in Chicago P.D. But this was not the only audition he went to, because before wanting to play Captain America, he was on other shoots.

The 37-year-old actor got his big break when he was cast in the Disney movie The Princess Diaries. It’s hard to recognize Flueger in his role as Jeremiah, a friend of Mia Thermopolis who works magic with fiery red hair.
