BTS: ‘Map of the soul 7’ among the best albums of 2020 according to Rolling Stone. In addition to the bestseller, BTS conquers the critics and become the only Korean artists on the Rolling Stone list.
Music portal Rolling Stone selected the 50 best albums of 2020 so far and among the record selection is BTS as the only representatives of South Korea.
The list named Map of the soul: 7 , an album that premiered in February with a busy schedule of promotion in the United States and Korea, as “one of the most notable releases of the year.” The main single was “ON”, whose radio version includes a Sia feat .
With this count (which does not have a specific ranking) MOTS 7 appears alongside projects such as Future nostalgia by Dua Lipa , YHLQMDLG by Bad Bunny or Father of all by Green Day.
“Map of the soul 7 is BTS’s most sensational album, which boasts its mastery of different styles of pop: from intense rap to slow ballads, from Swedish electro-disco to progressive style,” comments the reviewer.
Rolling Stone also highlights the “personal” meaning of the album, as it comes at a time in Bangtan’s career where the seven members reflect on their seven years on stage and project themselves to what they want to continue doing in the future.
It should be remembered that this K-pop project broke sales records among its peers. It debuted at the top of the Billboard 200 and more than 4 million copies sold were recorded on the Gaon Music Chart .
