Britney Spears took to Instagram yesterday to post another dance montage, and while she was there, she made a reflective observation about herself and how other people look at her. The pop star talked about how she felt “weird and stupid,” but said she needed to tone down that part of herself, otherwise other people would start talking about her being “CRAY CRAY.”
If you follow Spears on social media, you may have noticed that she’s been in a brooding mood ever since the video of her at the restaurant went viral. First, she posted reflections on how she always feels on the defensive with the media, and wondered what it would be like to receive the kind of attention that helps you love yourself. She then continued with her latest post about how her behavior, if she doesn’t reduce it, makes other people judge her. The post can be read below…

Then last week she went to eat at a restaurant near her house with her husband Sam Asgari. As soon as the two arrived, they were allegedly inundated with photos, and people in the restaurant used their cameras to record. Later, someone at the table diagonally away from the two pulled out their phone and started filming, leaving Spears to cover her face with her menu. She later left and the headlines that were going around called her “manic” and some hinted that she handled the incident badly. I don’t really understand how you should deal with strangers filming you while you’re trying to eat, but I’m pretty sure I can’t handle it either.
Britney Spears had great hope after her guardianship ended that she would be able to live a better life filled with more freedom and choice. It definitely worked to some extent. The pop star got married, released new music and did a lot of things that she was not allowed to do with her father. Unfortunately, however, she also received a lot of negative feedback about problems with her family, NSFW content that she sometimes posts on social networks, and much more. Not surprisingly, all this made her change her behavior and think about how others see her.
I can’t speak for everyone else, but I would prefer Britney Spears to be herself. If it involves some stupidity, so much the better. She’s at her best when she’s real, and that’s what her true fans want to see, no matter what the haters might say.
