Designed by Michael Scully, Head of Design for BMW Group Motorsport, the new safety car takes some of the features of its predecessor to the next level.

Changes to the BMW logo make new vehicles immediately identifiable from the previous ones. The purpose of the new logo is to provide maximum visibility in aerial shots while vehicles are traveling at high speed. However, just like the racing car, the non-reflective, matte black cockpit components have been expanded to cover the entire area around the driver.
