Battlefield 2042: EA Dice explained long before its launch that it was looking for formulas to do it, although they did not guarantee it. The keyboard and mouse may not be a common control system on consoles, but shooters tend to be handled with greater precision when using these types of devices. Battlefield 2042, the newest from EA DICE, has been released recently, and as planned, it is not possible to use either the mouse or the keyboard. A group of users has created a web page to make an online request at that address: more than 10,300 players have already asked for the option to be implemented.
“There is a high percentage of the gaming community that cannot upgrade their PCs to meet the Battlefield 2042 requirements,” say the organizers. “This is due to the shortage of computer components”, the distribution of which has been affected by speculators. “What used to cost $ 300 or $ 600” is now available “for $ 1,000 or $ 2,000.”
Fortnite and Call of Duty: Vanguard, examples of games that do allow it
According to this group of users, the launch of PS5, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S has led “many PC gamers to play on console with keyboard and mouse.” These new systems “currently have the power” to approach higher-end computers, not to mention the trend “toward cross-play.” They argue that many high-budget titles allow this option, games like Fortnite, Gears 5, Call of Duty: Vanguard or DayZ.
In a statement prior to launch, the studio acknowledged that it had heard feedback on keyboard and mouse use. While they reported that it would not be a release feature, they did open the door to implementing it in the future. “We are still investigating various options to enable it,” they revealed then, without making any firm promise.
Battlefield 2042 is available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PC.
