Apple is preparing to launch two more headphones for 2020, according to a rumor published by analyst Jon Prosser. One of the models would be ready to be announced soon and would inaugurate a new segment of the brand, while the other is a new version of an already consolidated family.
According to Prosser, the first product is a headphone in the “over-ear” format, that is, the traditional larger headphones that cover the entire ear region. They would be codenamed B515, would be the equivalent of the Beats 700 and would cost around US $ 350 (R $ 1.8 thousand in direct currency conversion).
The announcement should be made during WWDC 2020, the company’s traditional conference turned into a digital event because of the new coronavirus pandemic. For now, there is no date for the transmission, but it should happen in mid-June this year.
The second model, on the other hand, is called AirPods X (code name B517) and would be a kind of “AirPods Pro Lite” – that is, a cheaper and less powerful version of the top-of-the-line version of the company’s wire headphones. They would cost approximately US $ 200 (or R $ 1,046), scheduled to launch in September or October. It would be geared towards racing and other sports activities.
The end of Beats?
With the entry of Apple in the headphones segment and the expansion of the AirPods line, information also begins to circulate that Beats, the audio line acquired by Apple in May 2014. Still according to Prosser, the idea is not exactly end the company overnight, but gradually discontinue products and sell the catalog, making Apple itself a reference in the sector in the long term.
