Actor Alec Baldwin spoke earlier this afternoon (22) about the fatal accident involving director of photography Halyna Hutchins on the set of recordings for the film Rust. During filming, the filmmaker was accidentally hit by a bullet fired by the actor.
Baldwin, who was seen stunned earlier after giving a statement to police, claims that he contacted Halyna’s family.
“There are no words to express my shock and sadness at the tragic accident that took the life of Halyna Hutchins, wife, mother and our deeply admired colleague,” he said on his Twitter. “I am fully cooperating with the police investigation to resolve how this tragedy occurred and am in contact with her husband, offering my support to him and his family. My heart is broken for her husband, her son and for everyone who knew and loved Halyna “.

In addition to Halyna Hutchins, director Joel Souza, 48, was also injured and is in hospital. Police are still investigating the case to obtain more details about the timing of the shooting and the circumstances surrounding the incident.
In a statement sent to the Deadline portal, the film’s production said it had stopped recording. “We have stopped production for an indefinite period and are cooperating fully with the police investigation. We will provide advisory services to everyone connected with the film as we work to process this horrific event.”
