Alan Hutton Urges Manchester United to Keep Aaron Van Bissaka This Month

Former Premier League right-back Alan Hutton has called on Manchester United to retain Aaron Van Bissaka in the January window.

Speaking to Football Insider, Hutton believes Van Bissaka can play a big role in the second half of the season at Old Trafford.

United have been linked with a swap deal with Van Bissaka for Kyle Walker-Peters from Southampton.

It seemed that the defender’s time at United was coming to an end after he did not play for Ten Hag in the matches before the World Cup.

Diogo Dalot’s excellent form and qualities, more suited to Ten Haga’s style, gave him the go-ahead in the first part of the campaign, but after he was injured at the World Cup, Van Bissaka got his chance.

Since the performance, the 25-year-old has played well in his seven matches, and Hutton praised his performances after returning from the cold.

“Van Bissak was nowhere to be seen. Eric ten Hag came in, he gave him an opportunity when Dalot was away, and I think he did a great job.” he said.

Speaking of a potential swap deal, Hutton says United should stick with One-Bissaka.

“I wouldn’t do that now. I don’t think they will return this money (money paid to United) at this point in time. Given his recent performances, I wouldn’t change him.” he said.

Hutton went on to say that, in his opinion, Van Bissaka is one of the strongest defensively in the Premier League, but admits that he needs to keep the ball in his feet better.

“Moving forward is where he needs to improve, defensively I think he’s one of the best one-on-one defenders,” he said.

Van Bissaki’s contract runs until 2024 before it expires after signing a contract with United from Crystal Palace in 2019 worth about 50 million pounds.
