Life imitated art when actor Aman Dhaliwal found himself in a situation that seemed taken straight from the silver screen of one of his best action movies. The famous Bollywood and Punjabi performer (also known as Pollywood) found himself in the spotlight of a man armed with a knife and an axe and taken hostage outside Planet Fitness, near Los Angeles.

Deadline reports that the model-turned-actor is recovering from multiple stab wounds today after a man with an axe and a knife attacked him near a popular training spot. Dhaliwal was assaulted around 9:20 a.m. Tuesday in the Planet Fitness parking lot by a man whom Crown Police identified as 30-year-old Ronald Chand of Santa Ana. Two men ended up in the gym, where Aman was held with a knife, while the attacker threatened others. In the end, the victim fought back, neutralizing and detaining the attacker with the help of passers-by. The shocking series of events was captured on camera, and the video posted by ABC7 can be viewed below.

In the tense video, you can see that despite his numerous wounds, Aman Dhaliwal was able to hold the axe wielded by the attacker firmly and keep his eyes open to get a chance to disarm the attacker with a knife. This time comes whenever Chand turns his back for a split second, giving Dhaliwal a chance to lower him to the ground, where other members of the gym can jump up to help keep the man in custody until the authorities are called.

The Indian-born actor was stabbed several times in the upper body during the incident and was taken to a local hospital for treatment. According to the authorities, the artist’s injuries were not life-threatening, and he has since been released.

During the arrest, the attacker received minor injuries and was also hospitalized for medical care. Police say Chand was sent to the Robert Presley Detention Center after he was discharged and charged with attempted murder. His bail was set at $1 million.

The model-turned-actor, Dhaliwal, was discovered by a modeling agent at a barbershop in Delhi. His acting career began under the guidance of film director, actor and screenwriter Ashutosh Gowarikar. Since then, he has appeared in many Punjabi and Hindi films including Ik Kudi Punjab Di and Ajj De Ranjhe, as well as local TV shows like Ishq Ka Rang Safed, Porus and Vighnaharta Ganesh.

We at CinemaBlend are happy to hear that Aman Dhaliwal’s injuries are not life-threatening and wish him all the best as he continues to heal.
