8 People Died In Connecticut Nursing Home Due To Covid

Eight residents of a Connecticut nursing home are said to have died since the start of a coronavirus outbreak that has infected 89 people.

Twenty-two employees and 67 residents of the Geer Village Senior Community in North Canaan have been Covid positive since September 30, according to a statement from the facility.

“Sadly, we have lost 8 residents with serious underlying health issues,” the statement said.

The outbreak has been isolated in the center’s skilled nursing facility, which currently has 70 residents.

All but two of the infected personnel and residents were fully vaccinated. “We’re obviously concerned that we’re experiencing some reduced immunity,” the nursing home’s latest statement said.

The Connecticut Department of Public Health said it was monitoring the facility. Home visits are prohibited until further notice.
