4 New Absentees, But Liverpool’s Rental Duo Returned to Training Before Brighton

Liverpool’s 24-man squad was pictured at training on Wednesday, but there could be a hint of an imminent transfer among the four new absentees.

The Reds are still three days away from their next game at Brighton in the FA Cup fourth round, but Jurgen Klopp is using this week to prepare.

After a short break after the 0-0 draw with Chelsea on Saturday, the Liverpool team gathered again at the AXA training center and took part in training on Wednesday.

This included both working in the gym and outside with the ball, when the team of Fabinho, Jordan Henderson, Thiago, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Mohamed Salah won the game with a small squad.

Virgil van Dijk, Roberto Firmino, Artur, Luis Diaz and Diogo Hota, as expected, were not involved, as these five players are still being treated for injuries.

They were joined on the absentee list by Nat Phillips, James Milner, Fabio Carvalho and Adrian, although it is unclear if there are any new injury concerns.

It is more likely that they worked individually or had other commitments, although Phillips’ omission may indicate that a move is coming in January.

Rhys Williams and Jakub Ojinski were part of the main squad after being recalled from loan spells at Blackpool and Radomiak Radom, and Williams’ return is expected to ease Phillips’ transition.

Since the transfer window is less than a week away, any developments around number 47 should be quick.

Calvin Ramsay was part of the 24-man squad at training, playing for the under-21 team at the weekend, although Ben Doak did not appear.

However, Bobby Clarke was in the senior group, while Kaide Gordon was seen running on the street, and Marcelo Pitaluga worked in the gym while they were recovering from long-standing injuries.
